Secretary Betsy DeVos introduced Friday that college students who attended the Artwork Institute of Colorado and the Illinois Institute of Artwork from Jan. 20, 2018, by way of the tip of final yr could have their federal loans canceled.
Former college students from each colleges sued DeVos in October and demanded mortgage forgiveness, alleging the division illegally disbursed funding to the faculties even after that they had misplaced accreditation.
However the division blames the faculties’ accreditor, saying it harmed college students by giving the faculties a “newly developed and improperly outlined accreditation standing.”
